Hempnall Methodist Church | |
Sisterhood meets Tuesdays at 2pm in the church schoolroom. Sunday service starts at 9.30am. Every third Sunday in the month there is a united family service with the parish church (St. Margaret’s). The club promotes tennis and has two hard courts on Hempnall playing field. Members in all age groups and family membership is available. Play throughout the year with floodlights. Junior Club Monday evenings and junior coaching Saturday mornings and Monday evenings. Senior club sessions are on Wednesday and Friday evenings 6pm onwards and Sunday afternoons 2pm onwards throughout the year. Mixed doubles and ladies doubles play in the South Norfolk League. In 1964 the eight villages of Bedingham, Fritton, Hardwick, Hempnall, Morningthorpe, Shelton, Topcroft and Woodton became united as the Hempnall Group of Parishes. This book considers the development and significance of the Group in the light of social and economic changes which have taken place in these rural communities as seen through the eyes of those living in the villages. The book includes descriptions of the villages and the churches. There is also a time line, a summary of responses to extensive interviews and additional statistical information in the appendices.
